Summer 2

Our theme for Summer 2 is Moods of Music. We are really excited about our unit of work this half term which will involve singing, playing instruments, making instruments and composing!

English:

We will be focussing on character descriptions and setting descriptions. We will be developing our sentence structure, using a wider range of conjunctions to extend our ideas within a sentence. As well as this, we will be developing our use of adventurous vocabulary in order to write exciting and creative pieces.

Love to Read:

Our class text will be Dodie Smith's 101 Dalmatians.

Maths:

This half term we will be focusing on developing the children's knowledge in the following areas: fractions; mass and capacity; and properties of shapes. During My Money Week children will be able to practise adding and subtracting money, giving change, and budgeting.

Science:

We will be working scientifically, which means doing lots of fun experiments, making predictions, creating conclusions, and devising fair tests!

RE:

'What do Muslims use when they pray?' is the big question that we will be answering in RE this half term. By the end of this unit, our children will:

  • Know that Muslims aim to pray five times a day.
  • Know what Muslims need for their daily prayers and how they prepare for prayer.
  • Explain how prayer mats can help Muslims to feel together and equal.
  • Know some of the positions for prayer.

PE:

Outdoor PE will be athletics this half term and indoor PE will be multi-skills. We will also be participating in our annual Sports Week which will include Sports Day. We hope to see you there!

MFL:

We will be learning French as our modern foreign language with a focus on 'Time'.

COMPUTING

This half term we will be looking at programming a sequence in music.

PSHEE:

This half term our PSHEE topic is ‘Changing Me’ and we will be talking about the changes that bodies go through as we change from a baby to an adult. As well as this, we will discuss the impact this has on mental health and relationships.

British Value focus:

Reminding ourselves of all the values we have covered this year.

Christian Value focus:
