Music is taught in a cross curricular format at Wrockwardine Wood, with musical skills such as composition, experimentation and performance taught in a way that is linked to topic areas – where this is possible. If the teaching or music does not fit within the topic area, it is taught discretely as a separate subject. The music topics include, but are not limited to:
- Space Music in Year 5
- Recorders in Year 4
- Glockenspiel in Year 3 & 4
- Audio editing in Year 5
- Rapping in Year 6
We also enjoy singing as an extra-curricular activity at Wrockwardine Wood, we have musical worship for the whole school on a Wednesday afternoon and sing on special occasions such as Easter and Christmas at the Church. Music forms an important and significant part of our daily worship, with a song sung daily at the end of the session.
Our school choir are very talented and regularly perform at out-of-school events, such as the young voices school concert which we have performed at in The Royal Albert Hall and the Genting Arena in Birmingham.
Music Lessons are also offered in school for instruments including drums, guitar and piano (charges may apply) If you are interested in music tuition for your child, ask at the school offuice for details.
